Following the three major submarrine cables in Kenya, SEACOM,East African Marine System (Teams),East African Submarine Cable System (EASSy) and a fourth one recently announced by the CCK and Information technology Permanent secretary Bitange Ndemo at the recently concluded IGF conference at UNON Gigiri, Kenya. In the network the fiber is used from the Head end (Main Engine) to the equipment called a node. The node converts the Optical Signal to RF which is sent to 8 distribution nodes via 500 series Coaxial Cables, the distribution nodes in turn using coax connects to Taps that are meant to serve clients , signal is split using splitters and smaller cables called RG6 and RG 11 are used to connect the last mile.
